NEWS

There is a vitality, a life force, an energy that is translated through you into action,
And because there is only one of you in all of time, that expression is unique—
It is your business to keep it yours completely and to keep the channel open.

Dying, Grieving an Living in Bali: A Social and Cultural Exploration

With Alexandra Kennedy & I Made Suryasa, August 12-25 2020

Come join us for two transformative weeks in one of the most beautiful, inspiring and deeply spiritual places on earth. Bali remains one of the few places in the world where the traveler can explore and discover untouched places and witness religious rituals that have not diminished with the passing of time. Every back road is a gateway to the heart of the Balinese people.

In this two-week sojourn, we will immerse ourselves in the spiritual, historical, and cultural riches of Bali while we explore how gracefully the Balinese culture embraces grieving and dying (known as “The Great Departure”) in their rituals and daily living. We are blessed with two generous and knowledgeable guides who live part of every year in Bali and can offer us an unforgettable experience of this island and culture that few tourists ever have.

Grief Workshop

Over a lifetime we will experience many losses-not just the loss of loved ones but the loss of a marriage, health, job, finances, dreams, a pet, or a child when he or she goes off to college. Losing someone or something you love or care deeply about is very painful. Grief is a natural response to loss. However, ungrieved loss takes a toll on our hearts and deadens us to life. We must learn to actively grieve but how can we do this in the midst of our daily lives? How can we support others who are grieving?

Working as a licensed therapist for over 35 years, Alexandra Kennedy provides a unique perspective to loss and grieving. Weaving together inspiring case histories, professional and practical advice, and experiential exercises, Alexandra "empowers her clients to connect with a flow of healing and transformation from within themselves and learn new tools for living more fully".

In addition to lecturing at universities, professional organizations, and major conferences, Alexandra has authored successful books including Losing a Parent, The Infinite Thread: Healing Relationships Beyond Loss, and How Did I Miss All This Before? Waking Up to the Magic of Our Ordinary Lives. You will also find numerous articles, interviews, and workshops by her.
